The William Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center (VAMC) opened in 1932 at its current location. Dorn VAMC has 204 skilled nursing beds, which includes acute medical, surgical, psychiatric, and long-term care. The hospital provides primary, secondary, and some tertiary care.

The WJB VA Medical Center is actively recruiting a full-time Wound care specialist to participate in our clinical and teaching programs.
The incumbent will be responsible for the development and implementation of educational wound care programs for patients, staff and other medical center health care staff. They will coordinate quality improvement initiative to optimize skin and wound outcomes. Incumbent will be responsible for providing on going monitoring of the wound and the patients response to the established plan to include measurement and observation of the wound. Will develop/coordinate practices for preventions and management of skin break down; provide consultation and hands on care for wound care patients with acute or chronic wounds.
Candidates will be expected to participate in the clinical practice and teaching of mid- levels in wound care. Clinical responsibilities include the full spectrum of operative and non-operative management of wound care based on specialty training. For a wound care trained provider, the practice will encompass a full spectrum of general wound care including, but not limited to include: enhancing health care services and including prevention, health maintenance, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation, consultation, treatment for patients with acute or chronic wounds, wound debridement of devitalized tissue , chemical cauterization, providing monitoring of wound and patient response to treatment plans, coordinating quality improvement initiatives to optimize skin and wound outcomes. The applicant will participate in a wide range of activities to include clinical and outpatient evaluation of new and follow-up patients and inpatient consultations. The applicant will also attend and be an active participant in hospital based committees.
