The Department of Psychology at San José State University (SJSU) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Developmental Psychology with a focus on bilingual/multilingual research beginning in Fall 2023. We seek a candidate with expertise in studying the developmental context and lived experiences of children, adolescents, and/or emerging young adults from language diverse backgrounds whose work emphasizes an individual’s assets and resilience when navigating their environment. For example, a candidate might be interested in exploring how developing youth experience the world around them cognitively, socially, or emotionally as a function of being bilingual/multilingual; or how bilingualism/multilingualism intersects with other aspects of diversity (e.g., immigration experience, ethnicity) that can affect such areas as identity development, self-esteem, and academic success.
Applicants should have an active research program and be capable of teaching courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels as well as contributing to the mentoring of students.
