Mental Health America (MHA) is seeking a Workplace Mental Health Fellow to support its workplace mental health and wellness initiatives for 18 months between January 2023 – June 2024. This Fellowship is designed to provide opportunities to explore and support research within the workplace mental health and wellness field.
The Workplace Mental Health Fellow will focus on two major responsibilities, including (1) evaluating how the criteria for MHA’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health program aligns with evidence-based research and correlates with or improves worker mental health outcomes and (2) assisting in the communications and development of workplace partnerships with academic, corporate, foundation, government, and non-profit entities.

Job Overview:
This position will report directly to the Chief Program Officer and will work in close collaboration with the Director of Workplace Mental Health, who currently manages MHA’s workplace mental health and wellness initiatives. The Fellow will also work collaboratively with MHA’s dedicated communications, marketing, outreach, and development staff.
This position is eligible for remote work options. However, because many events occur in the Washington, D.C. metro area, non-local candidates will be expected to travel regularly (up to 20% time). Local candidates are encouraged. Employees must be eligible to work in the U.S.

The Workplace Mental Health Fellow will engage in the following activities:
Evaluate how the criteria for MHA’s Bell Seal for Workplace Mental Health program aligns with current evidence-based research
Research how the Bell Seal program impacts worker mental health outcomes
Assist in coordinating communications and development of workplace partnerships with academic, affiliate, corporate, foundation, government, and non-profit entities
Manage outreach, recruitment, and communications with large employers
Strategize how to encourage participants of MHA’s Bell Seal program to become partners, funders, or sponsors of MHA activities
Develop and pitch funding or partnership opportunities with other MHA leads
Incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion practices in all workplace efforts and deliverables
Support workplace activities across other MHA teams, including affiliates services, partnerships, public education, screening, and youth and young adult mental health.
Meet as needed with other groups at MHA
Support the work of other MHA projects or activities as needed or as interested
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in industrial or organizational psychology, human resources, business with a human resources concentration, psychology, sociology or anthropology, social work, or other human service practice is required. Advanced academic credentials are preferred but not required.
Academic or research expertise in the U.S. workforce, worker rights, federal and state labor laws, workplace discrimination, working conditions, or similar expertise
Proven experience in managing mutually beneficial relationships and partnerships
Demonstrated passion for mental health
Strong written and oral communication skills, organization skills, and attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite tools
