Job Summary
Post-doctoral fellow providestherapeutic services as a qualified licensure candidate under the direct supervision of a licensed behavioral health provider in the primary care medical setting.Clinical services include supervised diagnostic assessment and brief evidence-based interventions for behavioral health disorders, co-occurring chronic medical conditions, and substance use disorders. Post-doctoral fellow provides interventions focused on health behavior change with a multicultural lens and emphasis on the impact of social determinants of health on overall functioning. Post-doctoral fellow also provides case management and case coordination to facilitate referrals to specialty care as needed. Clinician functions as an integral member of the interdisciplinary team in the primary care medical setting as well as part of the larger organization. Post-doctoral fellow is actively involved in quality improvement, data monitoring and in research projects. Post-doctoral fellow participates as a member of the Integrated Behavioral Health Division.
Two training tracks are available:
Track 1: Family Medicine with Specialty Focus in Refugee Health.This track focuses on integrated primary care services throughout the lifespan. The fellow will be placed in 2 Denver Health family medicine clinics with opportunity to provide integrated services for refugees.
Track 2: Pediatric Primary Care with Specialty Focus in Infant Mental Health.Pediatric primary care provides services from birth to age 18. Infant mental health will be a specialty focus with attention to the parent-child dyad and will learn Healthy Steps and PC Care interventions. Denver Health also serves children in foster and kinship placements with opportunity for fellow involvement. This position will provide experience in collaboration with pediatric medical specialties including gastroenterology, complex care, nursery clinic, neurology, nutrition, and more.
Essential Functions:
Responsibilities
1.Consultation: To include brief assessment, diagnostic evaluation, and evidence-based intervention. Provides high quality clinical services to individuals referred to integrated behavioral health. Provides services that are appropriate to the age, developmental capacity, and systemic needs of the patient. Consults with providers as part of the interdisciplinary team and generates recommendations, referrals, and case management as needed.
2.Documentation: Complete appropriate documentation of therapeutic interventions in the medical record commensurate with organizational expectations.
3.Supervision: Participation in supervision with licensed behavioral health provider to obtain hours toward appropriate licensure.
4.Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1.Post-doctoral fellow provides services in accordance with evidence-based clinical framework and is knowledgeable about effective practices in primary care medical settings. Knowledge of psychiatric and physical health conditions.
2.Post-doctoral fellow has critical thinking skills as well as advanced written and oral communication skills.
3.Ability to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality of patients' records.
4.Ability to promote health behavior change.
Education:
Doctoral degree in psychology required.
Work Experience:
Completion of predoctoral internship and graduation from an APA accredited institution with a doctoral degree in psychology. Clinical experience providing behavioral health services in a primary care medical clinic strongly preferred.
Licenses:
1.Graduation from an APA accredited institution with a PhD or PsyD.
2.Registered with the Colorado Department of Regulatory Agencies (DORA) as a qualified licensure candidate (Psychologist Candidate).
