About the opportunity:
The Behavioral Health Technician I position functions as a member of the Vail Health Behavioral Health (VHBH)?s multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team, providing patient care, observation, direct interaction, de-escalation support, and role modeling of coping skills to patients. This position supports a therapeutic setting and ensures the safety and well-being of both patients and providers. This position reports to VHBH?s Medical Director. In addition to direct patient care, this position is responsible for documentation and ensures all programming is aligned with internal, local, state, federal, and regulatory standards of care and compliance.
What you will do:
Provides direct patient care including medical and clinical support to VHBH patients. This includes collecting key patient demographics, ensuring completion of patient documentation, collecting medical vitals, supporting patient screens/assessments as applicable, and rooming patients.
Assists in identifying patients? problems, needs, and strengths. Collaboratively recommends modifications to the treatment plan based on observations of patients? behavior.
Supports a therapeutic setting by maintaining a safe, orderly, and therapeutic environment for all patients.
Participates in maintaining the therapeutic setting of the clinical space, enforcing the Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) system or other methods of behavior management.
In collaboration with other Behavioral Health Techs, actively supports urgent, emergent, and/or crisis situations, focusing on patient and provider safety and provision of de-escalation skills in alignment with CPI certification.
Engages in patient communication, education, and support as directed by the provider or provider team.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with physicians and health professional affiliates, patients, and staff.
Carries out clerical and administrative assignments to support patient care, program, and organizational operations.
Ensures compliance with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance including, but not limited to quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience:
Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience of direct patient care or community behavioral health experience or successful completion of Vail Health?s Behavioral Health Technician competencies required

Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification from Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) preferred
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
